New shoes on an old horse.......

With 8 to 10 inches of snow predicted, I thought I should freshen up the tread on the ATV.
Warming up the new tires makes them a little more pliable when mounting.

First, the wheels must come off.

Then the old tires must go.

Wayne is mounting the new tires while Gary "watches". It's amazing how much help you can get when you have the right tools.

Wayne "popping" the bead. We had to over inflate the tires to about 40 psi to get the tire to seat on the rim. Then lower the air back down to 6 psi. ATVs don't need much air pressure.

New tread.

Old tread was getting pretty slick.
Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow.

Horses and the ATV

Like most stories this time of year, we start by warming up the barn.
The ATV needed some attention. The charging system wouldn't charge and the cooling system wouldn't cool. You wouldn't think this cooling issue would be apparent in winter, but it was.
Gary, the horse guy, helped me find 2 loose wires that fixed the problems, so we decided to add a winch to the ATV so we could "unstuck" it more easily.
I wanted to be able to use the winch from the front or rear so we decided to mount it on a plate that can be attached to the trailer hitch ball.

Then I mounted a ball to the front of the ATV.

Here are the reasons for Gary's interest in the ATV.

It took us several days to make all of the repairs and modifications, but then, I'm retired.
